About BreadAndBooks.org

OUR MISSION

The original mission for BreadAndBooks.org was to promote literacy and self-empowerment to children and young adults through healthy reading activities and to bring people together in providing meals and essentials to those in need.

In 2019, we added a backseat awareness program to our mission to try and bring awareness to the dangers of leaving children in the back seat of a vehicle. Since 1998, almost 800 children have died from an avoidable vehicular heat stroke. We've partnered with the Polk County Sheriff's office, Lakeland Florida Police Department, Headley Insurance Agency, Nationwide Insurance and Safe Kids Florida to become the official 501(c)(3) behind the program and have pledged to use any funds raised to give away child-check bracelets and any excess funds will be used to provide car seats to new parents that otherwise could not afford them. You can learn more about our backseat awareness program by visiting backseatawareness.org.
